The Broken Heart - the Place Where God Loves to Dwell
Isaiah 57:15

We’re trained by our "me" culture to value self-confidence. In fact, we’re increasingly not comfortable - we don’t feel in tact - if we’re not self-confident. All of this makes it hard for us to be dwelling places for God because when we rely on self-confidence, we can’t be God-confident. When we’re strong in ourselves we can’t be strong in the Lord. Only a contrite heart will make all the adjustments - the deep, hard, will-challenging adjustments - that any worthwhile season of drawing close to God will ultimately require.
